The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) commenced a three-day regional training workshop on the base year revision of the State-level Index of Industrial Production (IIP) at Thiruvananthapuram. Organised in collaboration with the Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Keralam, the workshop runs from 28 to 30 October 2026 and is attended by approximately 60 participants from 16 States and Union Territories.
According to MoSPI, the revision shifts the base year from 2011–12 to 2022–23 to reflect the current industrial structure, product ranges, and production patterns. During the inaugural session, Dr. Dalip Singh, Director General (Central Statistics), emphasised aligning the revised State-level IIP series with the updated national methodology to improve consistency across States and Union Territories. Officials also discussed updating the item basket, adopting NIC 2025, improving data collection quality, and strengthening systems for regular monthly compilation.
