The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) organised a mega camp in collaboration with Punjab National Bank at Parliament Street, New Delhi, under the nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 5. The initiative aims to achieve 100% coverage of pensioners and family pensioners by assisting them in submitting their life certificates using face authentication technology.
According to DoPPW, pensioners can generate their Digital Life Certificates from home using smartphones without visiting bank branches or depending on others. For pensioners who are unable to visit camps or independently complete the process, doorstep services are available through banks and post offices.
DoPPW officials highlighted that face authentication technology, introduced in 2021, saw DLC generation increase from approximately 50 lakh to around 1.25 crore during the previous campaign. More than 14 lakh pensioners aged 80 years and above submitted their certificates in that drive.
What it means
- Pensioners can submit their Digital Life Certificates from home using smartphones without visiting bank branches.
- Doorstep services are available via banks and post offices for pensioners unable to complete the submission on their own.
