The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has issued a factual report addressing a news report published in The Central Chronicle (Bhopal) on October 31, 2026. The Ministry termed the claim that the Madhya Pradesh Council for Employment and Training (MAPCET) made payments amounting to crores based on unverified placement data as entirely incorrect and baseless.
According to the report, the Office of the Commissioner, Scheduled Caste Development Department, sanctioned ₹3,241.37 lakh for skill development training under the Special Central Assistance for Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan, of which ₹2,945.37 lakh was made available to MAPCET during 2021–22. Following a selection process, contracts were signed with 34 training provider organisations, out of which six did not commence work. The remaining 28 institutions trained 4,952 trainees.
Payments to training providers are disbursed in instalments based on norms prescribed by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The Ministry clarified that only the first and second instalments have been paid, which are linked to training commencement and successful completion of certification, respectively. The third instalment, which requires 70% verified employment, has not been paid to any institution since no such payment claims have been generated.
