Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) 2026 in New Delhi on November 4, 2026, calling for enhanced regional maritime security through supply chain diversification, reliable infrastructure, and greater cooperation.
Speaking at the Indian Navy’s annual apex international strategic conference, the minister stated that rising challenges in maritime spaces require building collective resilience. He highlighted emerging non-traditional threats such as piracy, trafficking, cyber-attacks, and natural disasters, adding that emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and autonomous surveillance must be used to solve real challenges without creating technological inequalities among nations.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan also addressed the event, emphasizing the need for joint investments in ocean science, shared scientific data, and building sustainable maritime capabilities across the Indo-Pacific region.
