The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google Arts & Culture to bring India’s cultural heritage to the public using digital tools. According to the Ministry, the partnership aims to showcase India’s civilisational breadth, including monuments protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, national museum collections, manuscript heritage under Gyan Bharatam, and living traditions.

A central focus of the initiative is the upcoming Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum in New Delhi’s North and South Blocks. The digitisation effort will record the buildings and artefacts, providing public access in Indian languages across devices. The Ministry stated that the collaboration supports preservation, public access, and the creative economy.

What it means

  • The partnership will digitise monuments, museum holdings, manuscripts, and crafts.
  • Digitisation will create a lasting record of the Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum buildings and artefacts.
