Economy news – VoiceOfGP

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal virtually inaugurated Vanijya Bhawan and Udyog Bhawan in Jaipur, making it the first city to bring all associated offices of the Ministry under a single roof. The Minister called for co-locating offices of all 46 organisations under the Ministry across every state capital to create single-window facilitation hubs for trade and investment.

The Minister directed that all administrative processes, including applications for licences, permits, and SCOMET approvals, must move completely online. He set March 31, 2027, as the deadline to digitise all past records and data across the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) regional authorities. From April 1, 2027, applicants will no longer be required to physically visit any Ministry office for these services.

What it means

  • All past data and records across DGFT Regional Authorities will be digitised by March 31, 2027.
  • Jaipur has co-located all Ministry of Commerce and Industry offices under a single roof as a prototype for state capitals.
