Government news – VoiceOfGP

According to the Press Information Bureau, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment stated that under the PM-DAKSH (Pradhan Mantri Dakshata Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi) scheme, 1,87,305 candidates were trained and 96,162 secured employment between the 2020-21 and 2023-24 periods. The central sector scheme was launched to provide skill training to Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, Denotified Tribes, and sanitation workers through listed institutions to help them obtain wage or self-employment.

The Ministry reported that a total of ₹309.5 crore was spent on the scheme during these years against an allocation of ₹276.47 crore. Starting from the 2024-25 period, PM-DAKSH has been merged into the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s (MSDE) PMKVY scheme to avoid duplication of work, as training roles were already sourced from the Skill India Digital Hub portal.
