The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) celebrated its 74th Foundation Day in New Delhi, marking its journey as a social security institution. Union Minister for Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya presided over the event, accompanied by Ministry officials and the Central Provident Fund Commissioner.
During the event, the organisation launched several new digital and administrative initiatives to improve service delivery for subscribers. According to the Ministry, EPFO now manages a corpus of nearly ₹32 lakh crore from over 8 crore contributory members and 85 lakh pensioners.
Key initiatives introduced include verified WhatsApp services for checking balances, passbooks, and transactions, alongside automatic settlement for eligible inoperative accounts with balances up to ₹1,000. Additionally, the average claim settlement time dropped to 2.57 days in October 2026 following technological upgrades under CITES 2.01.
What it means
- Subscribers can use EPFO's verified WhatsApp service to check their PF balance, latest five transactions, and passbook information.
- Subscribers with Aadhaar-verified inoperative EPF accounts having balances up to ₹1,000 will have their dues settled automatically without filing individual claims, benefiting around one lakh accounts involving ₹5 crore.
