The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the ‘New Amnesty Scheme, 2025’ for a further period of three months, running from 01.10.2026 to 31.12.2026 on existing terms and conditions, according to the Ministry of Labour & Employment. The scheme initially ran from 01.10.2025 to 30.09.2026.
According to the release, the scheme is a one-time dispute resolution initiative designed to reduce the backlog of court cases and promote compliance under the erstwhile ESI Act. It offers employers a structured mechanism to settle legal disputes out of court. Court cases filed up to 31.03.2025 are eligible for the scheme.
Under the scheme, ad-hoc assessments can be settled by paying actual contributions and interest without any damages being levied. Cases where employers have already paid dues can be withdrawn upon paying 10% of disputed damages. Additionally, cases filed by ESIC for delayed payments or non-submission of records that have since been complied with can be withdrawn with court permission.
