The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has extended the deadline for registered debenture trustees to comply with terms and conditions regarding activities outside SEBI’s purview. According to the circular, debenture trustees now have until April 27, 2027, to ensure compliance with the requirements.
The extension was granted following representations from debenture trustee associations highlighting operational challenges in setting up separate business units. SEBI noted that an Expert Working Group is currently reviewing the regulatory framework for debenture trustees, including aspects related to the separate business unit framework.
