The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has launched the Nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 5, setting a target of generating over two crore digital life certificates for pensioners. As part of the drive, the department held a mega camp in New Delhi in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI).
According to DoPPW Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma, technological options such as face authentication allow pensioners to generate their certificates directly through smartphones, removing the requirement to travel to bank branches or government offices.
SBI is organising dedicated DLC camps across 115 cities to support pensioners, alongside branch-level support teams. The bank previously facilitated roughly 25 lakh digital life certificates during the campaign’s earlier edition.
What it means
- Pensioners can submit their Digital Life Certificates from home using face authentication on their smartphones instead of visiting offices.
- SBI is organising dedicated assistance camps in 115 cities to assist pensioners with digital submissions.
