Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the NDTV World Summit 2026 in New Delhi, stating that a changing global order requires stronger international institutions and a more effective voice for the Global South. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he noted that existing global frameworks have failed to adapt to contemporary realities and crises, leading to situations where trade and technology are sometimes used as instruments of conflict.
Highlighting India’s evolving global positioning, the Prime Minister stated that the country has transitioned from being viewed merely as the world’s “back office” to functioning as its “brain office,” driven by advancements in research, semiconductor design, and intellectual capability. He pointed to domestic achievements including growth in merchandise exports, expansion of the semiconductor and pharmaceutical ecosystems, and advancements in digital infrastructure and green energy.
