The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has disbursed approximately ₹1.04 crore in Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) funds among 27 State Biodiversity Boards and two Union Territory Biodiversity Councils, according to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The payout reflects benefit-sharing contributions collected from Crystal Crop Protection Limited, Savannah Seeds Pvt. Ltd. and Nunhems India Pvt. Ltd. for accessing crops such as pearl millet, jowar, maize, rice and bottle gourd for research and commercial purposes. Because these resources were sourced through markets or traders where individual growers cannot be identified, the NBA used an area-based formula, distributing funds proportionately according to central crop cultivation statistics.

Uttar Pradesh received the largest allocation at ₹10.36 lakh, followed by Maharashtra at ₹10.05 lakh and Madhya Pradesh at ₹9.81 lakh. The ministry noted that agriculture has contributed about ₹87 crore of the more than ₹204 crore in cumulative ABS benefits disbursed across India to date under the Biological Diversity Act.
