The Department of Commerce has extended the timelines for Component II of the Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) initiative until March 31, 2027. According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the decision was notified via Notification No. 37/2026-27 dated September 30, 2026, due to ongoing geopolitical disruptions in West Asia and their effect on maritime logistics.
Component II provides 95 per cent risk coverage to encourage exporters to obtain Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) cover for shipments to specified regions. This benefit applies to Standalone Policies and Whole Turnover Policies obtained on or after March 16, 2026. The initiative protects the premium payable by eligible exporters against increases beyond pre-disruption levels. Covered cargo categories include Full Container Load, Less than Container Load, and refrigerated containers, while energy shipments are excluded.
Exporters must submit claims and supporting documents through the ECGC customer portal. The RELIEF initiative was originally launched on March 19, 2026, to assist exporters dealing with increased freight costs, higher insurance premiums, and war-related export risks.
