The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released the October 2026 issue of its monthly bulletin, which features two speeches, four articles, and current statistics. According to the central bank, the Indian economy continues to show strength across industry and services, although headline Consumer Price Index inflation edged up in September due to increases in food, fuel, and core components.

Among the studies included, one article analyzes the transmission of monetary policy to scheduled commercial banks’ lending rates, noting that a cumulative reduction of 125 basis points in the repo rate led to a 93 basis point decline in the weighted average lending rate on fresh loans between February 2025 and March 2026. Another review on non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) highlights double-digit credit growth up to December 2025 alongside improving asset quality and a rising adoption of artificial intelligence.

Additionally, the bulletin features research on tracking state-level economic activity using satellite night-time lights and Google Trends. The RBI noted that the views expressed in the bulletin articles belong to the authors and do not represent the official stance of the central bank.
