According to an official release, Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Secretary Narendra Bhushan reviewed the winter preparedness and action plans of the Uttar Pradesh government and urban bodies to combat air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

During the meeting, the Uttar Pradesh government detailed its planned activities and 11 key steps taken so far to address various pollution sources, including road dust, construction and demolition activities, open burning of biomass, vehicular emissions, traffic congestion, industrial pollution, greening, and paddy stubble management.

The Secretary discussed the progress of interventions such as road redevelopment, deployment of electric buses, solid waste processing facilities, remediation of legacy waste dump sites, and dust mitigation measures at construction sites and industries. Mr. Bhushan urged the state to engage with transport associations to accelerate the transition of old trucks and buses, and suggested enforcing a ‘no PUC, no fuel’ policy at all fuel stations using ANPR cameras.

Senior officials from various central ministries, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), and district officials from Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and other NCR districts in Uttar Pradesh attended the review meeting.
