Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the world is entering an era of artificial intelligence-driven and gene-based precision medicine, with India emerging as one of the leading providers of advanced health-care solutions. Speaking as the chief guest at the 42nd convocation of the Sri Ramachandra Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) in Chennai, he noted that the next generation of medical professionals will have the privilege of using enabling technologies along with the challenge of integrating them into clinical practice.

Dr. Singh highlighted that India has made significant progress in indigenous medical research, citing examples such as indigenous DNA vaccine development, gene therapy for hemophilia, and advancements in nuclear medicine for conditions like fatty liver disease. He emphasized that preventing lifestyle-related diseases among youth, such as diabetes and hypertension at younger ages, must be a key healthcare priority to protect human potential and achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He also invited SRIHER to expand its participation in national research initiatives across emerging fields like genomics and bio-manufacturing.
